NORTHEASTERN CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

The Northeastern Catholic District School Board and many other community partners organized the Protecting Our Water Pow Wow that took place on Friday, May 26 at the Participark in Timmins.

Students of all ages came together to learn about the Indigenous culture, listening to traditional drumming, sitting by the fire in the teepee, watching and learning some dances, visiting with Elder Walter Naveau and Grandmother Cheryl Macumber and playing games.

This year’s Pow Wow theme was Protecting Our Water and fittingly so the day began with a Grand Entry at 10 a.m. with the sprinkling of rain.
