Timmins - Senior Citizen Assaulted By 27 Year Old

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local 27 year old male after an unprovoked assault on a senior citizen. On June 18th 2013, the Timmins Police received a complaint that a male had been assaulted in the parking lot of the Hollinger Court.

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local 27 year old male after an unprovoked assault on a senior citizen. On June 18th 2013, the Timmins Police received a complaint that a male had been assaulted in the parking lot of the Hollinger Court. Upon arrival, police were advised that an 86 year old male had been assaulted.

It was revealed that the victim was exiting a local business when the accused punched him in the head with a closed fist without provocation. The accused struck the victim with such force that it caused the victim to fall backwards against a wall then to the ground. The accused and the victim had never met prior to the incident. The victim required medical attention and was transported to the Timmins and District Hospital by ambulance where he was treated and required several stitches. The accused fled the area immediately after the incident and was located and arrested by police a few blocks away.

Elroy Moore of Timmins has been charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
