On Saturday, March 8, 2014, women around the world will be recognized in various ways as part of International Women’s Day.

The Timmins Police Service would like to recognize the contributions made by the women police officers and civilians who make up an important part of the TPS team. “In a profession that’s historically male-dominant, it’s very important to recognize our female officers and civilians,” said Timmins Police Chief John Gauthier. “These women are integral to the daily functioning of our police department; without them, I’m very confident our organization would not exist.”

In total, 49 women are employed by the Timmins Police Service, which includes eight records clerks, 25 part-time and full-time 9-1-1 operators, and 11 police officers, among other positions.

On International Women’s Day, and every day, the Timmins Police Service recognizes the significant and positive work of its female members.
