Timmins Police is reporting a surplus of funds last year, however not all of the costs are in yet.
At the Feb. 8 Timmins Police Services Board meeting, Insp. Henry Dacosta said that as of Jan. 24, the service had about a 6.2 per cent surplus.
“We have spoken with our finance department and requested some of those funds be carried over to 2018,” he said.
The savings are in various accounts, including the uniformed officer wages where he said there was a 2 per cent surplus.
He noted that some of the items, such as the dispatch centre, run on a fiscal year so there are still other costs to finalize.
