Timmins Police Release Name of Accused in Stabbing Incident

Timmins Police are investigating a stabbing incident which occurred on Tuesday, October 8, 2013. At approximately 2:00 p.m., police officers responded to a call at a Birch St. S residence regarding a male victim who had been stabbed in the chest.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., police officers responded to a call at a Birch St. S residence regarding a male victim who had been stabbed in the chest. Upon further investigation, police discovered the accused and the victim are known to each other. Both were involved in a physical altercation which resulted with the victim being stabbed.

The victim was transported to Timmins and District hospital via ambulance. The victim remains at hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Timmins resident Harriette HOOKIMAW, 44, has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon. Hookimaw is being held in custody at Monteith Correctional Facility pending a bail hearing.
