Despite COVID-19, the Timmins Police has launched its Festive RIDE Campaign for 2020.

Law enforcement efforts by Timmins Police officers have had to pivot in order to meet the demands of community safety.

Nonetheless, core functions in regards to being vigilant with impaired driving enforcement remain intact at the Timmins Police Service.

Young eager officers with the Timmins Police Service will be working alongside more seasoned veteran officers to monitor Timmins roadways in order to
locate impaired drivers and take the necessary corrective enforcement procedures to address this public safety issue.

Working in collaboration with the local MADD chapter, the Timmins Police Service is hopeful that area motorists will heed the warning issued and be aware that RIDE spot checks will be set up randomly at varied locales within the city and at various times of day to verify driver sobriety.

Planning and solid decision making will enhance roadway safety and reduce the likelihood of preventable tragedies from occurring.

As RIDE is a partnership focused on community safety region-wide, the OPP also took part in today’s kickoff.

In keeping with Porcupine Health Unit recommendations, Santa could not attend as there are currently zero cases of COVID-19 at the North Pole
and St. Nick wants to keep it that way.

Compromising the health of Mrs. Claus and the elves in the workshop at this late stage would not be a good idea.
