The Timmins Police Service has charged a Connaught woman stemming from an incident which occurred during the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 11.
While performing general patrol of his assigned zone, a Timmins Police Service officer had occasion to observe a passenger vehicle allegedly proceed through consecutive intersections controlled by red traffic lights at a high rate of speed. The driver is further alleged to have proceeded through an intersection controlled by a stop sign without bringing the vehicle to a stop.
The officer interviewed the driver once he had the driver come to a safe stop.
Based on the outcome of a standard field sobriety test, the driver was arrested and taken into custody in order to complete Intoxilyzer breath testing procedures.
As a result of the incident, Lindsay Berlinghoff, 24 of Connaught, has been charged with:
• Impaired operation of a motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
• Operate motor vehicle - over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused was released from custody and is required to attend Provincial Court on Aug. 28 to answer to the charges laid against her.
