Timmins Police auxiliary officers promoted

Members serve community with pride, integrity and professionalism, says police chief

There were some promotions within the Timmins Police Auxiliary this week.

Two members, Glenn Simpson and Rob Ferri, moved up the ranks. Timmins Police Chief John Gauthier said the changes are due to the passing of Auxiliary Staff Sgt. Darryl Bender earlier this year.

Simpson, who was an auxiliary sergeant has been promoted to auxiliary staff sergeant. Ferri has moved up to auxiliary sergeant from auxiliary constable.

“Both these gentlemen have put in countless hours to serve our community with pride, integrity and a lot of professionalism. As this board knows our auxiliary unit complement the Timmins Police Service, they spend a lot of hours doing community service work, they stand beside us very proudly at all kinds of events,” said Gauthier.

Timmins Mayor Steve Black thanked the members for their service.

“Any time you’re out in our community at the events that our auxiliary participate, you will see these two fine gentlemen representing our service and our city very well so it’s an honour see your promotions today,” said Black.
