Timmins Police Arrests Made in Break and Enters at Two Local Businesses

Timmins Police officers, aided by officers from the Ontario Provincial Police Central Region Support Team, and the South Porcupine Detachment Crime unit, have arrested two southern Ontario men in relation to break and enters at two local businesses.

In the early morning hours of July 10, 2013, Mikey’s General Sales on the Airport Road was broken into and six motor cycles with a total value exceeding $35,000 were removed from the premises.  Later during the same morning hours of July 10, 2013, Guiho Saw Sales on Riverside Drive was also broken into, however, the accused vacated the premises before removing any property. Both accused were arrested a short time later as they were attempting to leave the City.

Charged with one count each of “Break, Enter a Place and commit an indictable offence”, one count of “Break, Enter a place with intent to commit an indictable offence,” one  count of “Possession of Break In Instruments,” and one count of “Possession of Property Obtained by Crime,” are John Alexander STRACHAN, age 25, of Brantford, ON, and Stephen Harold FORBES, age 27, of Innisfil, ON.

CULPRITS ARRESTED

(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – On June 20, 2013, officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to Parkway Yamaha on Pretty River Parkway in Collingwood for a report of a break, enter and theft of All Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s).

Through the course of the investigation that followed, it was determined that sometime overnight, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. on the June 19 to 8:00 a.m. on the June 20, 2013, person(s) unknown gained access to the locked compound at Parkway Yamaha on Pretty River Parkway in Collingwood and proceeded to steal 13 all-terrain vehicles.

After an extensive month long investigation involving members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP Detachment, Orillia OPP Detachment, Bracebridge OPP Detachment, Central Region Support Team (RST), the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and the Timmins Police Service, 2 males were arrested in the City of Timmins in relation to a separate but similar crime during the early morning hours of July 13, 2013.  The investigation, which is continuing, has resulted in these males being charged with offences committed in the Town of Collingwood and Severn Township.

Charged with “Break, Enter a place – with intent commit indictable offence”, “Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence” and “Possession Break in Instruments” are Steven FORBES, 27-years old from Bradford, Ontario and John A. STRACHAN 25-years old from Innisfil, Ontario.
