A 42-year-old Timmins man was killed in a Highway 11 crash yesterday, according to OPP.

The multi-vehicle crash happened around 10:15 a.m. Feb. 27 on Highway 11 in Benoit Township near Matheson. Police say Marcel Perreault of Timmins was killed.

The highway was closed for an investigation and re-opened about 3 a.m. Feb. 28.

A snowfall warning was in effect yesterday as a storm closed several roads in the region, including Highway 11 from Kapuskasing to North Bay, Highway 101 from Timmins to the Quebec border, and Highway 144. Those closures have since re-opened.

According to OPP, technical collision investigators (TCI), collision reconstructionists and traffic incident management and enforcement (TIME) team, Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services, Black River Matheson Fire Department and the Timmins Fire Department helped with the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information about the crash should contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at p3tips.com.
