Timmins man charged with theft

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with theft-related offences stemming from an incident that occurred yesterday evening at a west end retail outlet store in Timmins.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers attended the scene of the incident of theft of merchandise that had been observed by an in-house loss prevention officer who had made relevant observations of the occurrence.

The suspect was arrested and taken into custody by the Timmins Police Service. It is further alleged that the suspect was found to be in possession of stolen property linked to a separate incident of theft.

As a result of the incident, Timothy Rickard, 23, of Timmins, Ontario, has been charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was held in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
