Timmins man accused of driving on sidewalk

The vehicle involved was towed from the scene at the owner’s expense

The Timmins Police Service was called to the scene of an incident where a man was observed allegedly operating his pickup truck on a sidewalk adjacent to a city street in a residential area in the west end of the city of Timmins during the afternoon hours of Saturday, Aug. 18. Responding officers gathered sufficient investigative details from the complainant that led to the arrest of the driver a short distance from the original scene of the alleged offence.

Mark Bergeron, 46, of Timmins was taken into custody by the Timmins Police and charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Drive while under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused was released from custody on the strength of a Promise To Appear requiring that he attend Provincial Court in Timmins on Sept. 18 to answer to the charges laid against him. The vehicle involved in the incident was towed from the scene at the owner’s expense.
