GLOBAL CLIMATE MARCH

*************************
At 1 p.m. on November 29, residents and visitors of Timmins will gather at the Timmins Museum: NEC for a group meditation on the environment in support of the Global Climate March.

Avaaz and hundreds of local, national and international organisations are taking to the  streets across the world on November 29.

The Global Climate March will take place on the eve of a major summit of world leaders in Paris to discuss a unified global response to the crisis of climate change.

Thousands of events will be held in more than 150 countries to deliver a resounding public call to world leaders to take urgent and ambitious action when they meet in Paris.

"The Global Climate March is snowballing into a massive mobilisation of millions around the world who want leaders to do more to stop runaway climate change," says Monique Chénier, an Avaaz member from Timmins.

"Timmins residents are taking part to help show the huge level of public concern in Canada that climate talks deliver a deal that will avert climate catastrophe and move the world to a new green economy with 100% clean energy."

"Given the time of year, our event will take place indoors at the Timmins Museum," says Chénier.

"I'm hoping an indoor venue will allow as many people as possible to participate no matter their age, mobility or tolerance for the cold."
