Timmins Fire Chief Normand Beauchamp has resigned.

CAO Dave Landers said the resignation is effective immediately.

“What that means for right now is it will continue to be business as usual, the fire chief has been out of office for a little while now, since about November, and Deputy Chief Beaven has been leading the department for us and that will continue until we can address the vacant position, hopefully in the near future,” Landers said.

Beauchamp took over the position in October 2017, replacing longtime chief Mike Pintar when he retired.

With the resignation, Landers said staff will be bringing council a plan to move forward to address the vacant position.
