The local COVID-19 assessment clinic is shutting its doors this week.

Timmins and District Hospital has been running the clinic at 651 Ross Ave. E. It closes tomorrow (Friday, May 26). COVID-19 testing will continue at the hospital, which is across the street from the clinic.

“Our assessment clinic has supported our community for the last three years, helping keep residents safe and provide relief to our health system,” said Kate Fyfe, Timmins and District Hospital president and CEO, in a news release.

"As we continue to transition out of pandemic response, I want to highlight and express my gratitude to our assessment clinic team, our physicians and community partners for their commitment to keeping our community safe. We look forward to continuing to  work collaboratively with our community and district health partners to provide exemplary care for Northerners.”

The clinic first opened in 2020 and throughout the pandemic expanded to fill gaps in services.

After the clinic closes, people with cold and flu-like symptoms looking for care can also connect with their primary care provider, walk-in clinics and pharmacies. The emergency department at the hospital is also open 24/7.
