On March 26 - 27 - 28, 2014, I’m organizing the first ever Timmins Comedy Festival. The event will take place over three days and include several of North America’s best comedians. I’ve decided to donate all proceeds from this first time event to our local Crime Stoppers program. For many years, Crime Stoppers has helped counter criminal activity in the City of Timmins and the surrounding area. With access to a phone number, and armed with information, local residents can help current investigations, to perhaps deter or solve crimes. Furthermore, the continuous offer of financial rewards, entices hesitant citizens to come forward and aid the police service in their task.

Here are the locations for the different shows.

March 26 (Inappropriate Thursdays) will take place at The Victory Tavern March 27 (Dinner/Comedy Show) will take place at The Dante Club March 28 (Komedy for Kids) will take place at the Timmins Square during the day March 28 (Theatre Show) will take place at The Charles Fournier Auditorium at E.S.C. Theriault.

The first comedian that I would like to announce is Derek Edwards.

Derek Edwards proves that you can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy. Edwards's award-winning humour has made him one of the hottest properties in Canada. A regular at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, where he was recently hailed as a "virtuoso at the peak of performance", Derek's comedic gift is in making the ordinary extraordinary. Based on his Timmins, Ontario rural roots, his backwoods humour is delivered with a polished style and impeccable timing. A professional comedian for the past 15 years, he creates enchanting tales based on everyday subjects and delivers them with polished style and impeccable timing. Edwards has amassed an impressive string of credits. In 1995, he was the winner of the Vail National Comedy Invitational in Vail, Colorado. In 1996, he stole the show at the Molson Canadian Comedy Festival in Toronto and, in 1997, knocked'em dead at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and was featured on the 2003 Just For Laughs Comedy Tour across Canada with Rick Mercer. His numerous TV credits include The New Red Green Show, A&E's Comedy on the Road, CBC's Comics!, the Comedy Network's Laugh-a-Thon and Comedy Now. Edwards recently completed a 60 city tour of his show My Blunderful Life.
