Three people charged with attempted murder

Three people are facing attempted murder charges after a 23-year-old man was shot early Sunday morning. 

Timmins Police say they have completed the initial phase of the investigation into the incident, which happened at a Way Avenue residence Sunday, Sept. 8. 

During the investigation, one of the suspects was contained by police in a Shirley Street apartment.

There was a heavy police presence on a section of the road, which was closed for about 24 hours during the incident that involved the Timmins Police Service, South Porcupine OPP and an Orillia OPP unit. 

The person in the apartment, 36-year-old Steven Floyd Leduc, of Timmins was arrested about 6 p.m. Sept. 9.

He has been charged with:

• Attempt Murder contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Aggravated Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. 

• Use Firearm while Committing an Offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Careless Use of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. 

• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Pointing a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. 

• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Being the Occupant of a Motor Vehicle with Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Possession of a Loaded Restricted Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• 2 count of Possession of a Firearm contrary to a Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling House contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Breach of Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Breach of Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Two other people, 30-year-old Leroy Gary Bolger and 24-year-old Kimberley Calderwood, both of Timmins, have been charged with:

• Attempt Murder contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Aggravated Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. 

• Use Firearm while Committing an Offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Careless Use of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. 

• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Pointing a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. 

• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Being the Occupant of a Motor Vehicle with Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Possession of a Loaded Restricted Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

• Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling House contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Police say the man who was shot is in a Sudbury-area hospital.

The Shirley Street North apartment is still under the control of Timmins Police while the Forensic Identification Unit completes its investigation.

"This investigation is still under the direction of the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations Division and is ongoing at present in terms of collecting of statements, physical evidence and forensic exhibits," reads a Timmins Police news release.
