Roadwork around the city this week means road closures and changes to traffic flows.

Today (Sept. 27) to Thursday, Sept. 29, Lamminen Avenue is closed from Airport Road to Suzanne Street.

"This is to complete installation of one last section of watermain. After that, curb work will begin as we get closer to finalizing the project," according to a notice from the City of Timmins.

Traffic on Laforest Road at Highway 655 is reduced to one lane for paving operations. The work starts today, however, the city did not say when it will be complete. Traffic controls will be in place.

The stretch of road is the detour route around the Connecting Link work for heavy truck traffic.

The City of Timmins says the project is the final grind and pave work scheduled this year.

For Connecting Link work, the city provided an update on Facebook yesterday. This week, utility poles are being removed and the rest of the utilities are being transferred.

"Work will continue on watermain and sewer installation. Grading and curb work will also start at Theriault and move east," according to the city.
