NEWS RELEASE

ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE

*************************
MOOSONEE –The Moosonee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Moose Factory Detachment of the Nishnawbe Aski Police (NAPS) is warning residents of the Town of Moosonee and the Town of Moose Factory to stay off the Moose River during “Freeze Up”.

The river is in the process of freezing and there are large chunks of ice floating down the river into James Bay. The cold water and the large ice chunks make boating on the river extremely dangerous.

Boating on the river would not only put yourself at risk, but would also put the lives of those that may have to rescue you at risk as well.

There are other options for crossing the river until the river is frozen and Police ask that residents use those options in the meantime.
