The city's snow removal focus has changed for tonight

Crews are doing a city-wide snow plowing operation instead

Snow removal originally scheduled for tonight is being postponed.

"Due to today's snowfall which was significantly greater than forecasted, the public works department wishes to advise residents that tonight's snow removal schedule will be postponed," reads a City of Timmins notice.

Instead, the crews will be doing a city-wide snow plowing operation starting at 9:30 p.m.

"Crews will be deployed to plow city streets, laneways, and parking lots across the city. Some rural areas and sidewalks will be plowed during daytime hours on Jan. 10," according to the notice

The overnight snow removal originally scheduled for today was from Algonquin from Mountjoy to the bridge.

The daytime schedule for snow removal, which is done from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., for the rest of the week is:

Thursday, Jan. 10

  • Timmins – Waterloo from Jubilee to Vimy, Rea from Jubilee to Algonquin, and Vimy from Mountjoy to Theriault
  • South Porcupine – Churches and lane piles

Friday, Jan. 11

  • Timmins – Churches and stores
  • South Porcupine – Hellen, Helmer, Fern, Main north of Harold, Moore north of Harold, and Legion north of Harold
