TVOntario's flagship current affairs program is headed to the 'City with a Heart of Gold'.

The Agenda with Steve Paikin, which is hosted by the longtime provincial journalist, will tape an episode on Friday, March 31 which will focus on the Timmins economy.

The Bucket Shop, a 65,000-square-foot steel manufacturing facility in the west end industrial park is expected to serve as the host location. Mayor Steve Black is expected to be a guest, and six Grade 12 students from Timmins High & Vocational School will be invited to take part in a panel discussion.

The last time the program was in the city was back in 2006, where the broadcast focused on the 'North-South Divide' in Ontario, and was filmed in front a live audience in the William Dawson Auditorium at TH&VS. Panelists included veteran Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson, then Mayor Tom Laughren, as well as former Mayor Jamie Lim, who was then, and continues to be the president and CEO of the Ontario Forestry Industries Association. Current Mayor of Cochrane Peter Politis was also a guest. At the time he was a senior consultant at For Evergreen Innovative Strategies.

Paikin is a familiar face for millions of Canadians, as he has been chosen as moderator for the 2006, 2008, and 2011 federal leaders debates, as well as 2007, 2011, and 2014 Ontario provincial leaders debates. He has worked for TVO since 1992.

The Agenda airs weekdays at 8pm on TVO.
