Suspect charged with murder in vehicle fire death investigation

He also faces charges of arson and indignity to dead body

Acting on the strength of an arrest warrant, the Timmins Police Service has apprehended Richard (“Ricky”) Green, 41, of Timmins (Schumacher) without incident late this afternoon.

Green is being held in custody on the strength of an arrest warrant on charges of:
    •    Murder in the second degree contrary to s. 235(1) of the Criminal Code
    •    Arson to property contrary to s. 434 of the Criminal Code
    •    Theft of motor vehicle contrary to s. 333.1of the Criminal Code
    •    Indignity to dead body contrary to s. 182(a) of the Criminal Code

These charges stem from a continuing investigation by the Timmins Police Service into an incident which occurred on Friday, May 18 where human remains were located within a burned vehicle in the Gold Centre area of Timmins.

The accused will remain in police custody awaiting a determination regarding his first appearance date in Provincial Court. Those exact details have yet to be finalized and are being determined at present.
