Sunshine List reveals 2022's top earners

The number of City of Timmins employees on the list is up slightly this year, with over $18.25 million being paid out in salaries

The 2022 Sunshine List is out and the region's top doctor continues to be the top earner. 

Each year, the province is required to release information on all public sector employees who were paid more than $100,000.

With hundreds of people from the Timmins area on the list, here are some of the top earners in 2022.

Porcupine Health Unit medical officer of health Dr. Lianne Catton made $451,736, about a 24 per cent decrease from the year before.

At the health unit, over $3.6 million was paid out in salaries for the 29 people on the list.

The other top-earning health unit staff are:

  • Manager of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Services Lynn Leggett, $145,410
  • Manager of Foundations and Chief Nursing Officer Chantal Riopel, $140,982
  • Manager of Corporate Services Mary-Lou Pollon, $140,693
  • Manager of Environmntal Health Suzanne Lajoie, $138,808
  • Program Manager of Immunization, Chronic Disease Prevention, COVID-19 Response Kendra Luxmore, $127,048

At the City of Timmins, which includes salaries for municipal staff, Timmins Police and Timmins Firefighters, 148 people are on the list. That's a slight increase from 2021 when 142 per on the list. 

In 2022, over $18.25 million was paid out in salaries to the people on the list. The year prior, the total was more than $17.3 million.

Having made $207,288 last year, CAO Dave Landers is the highest-paid employee in the City of Timmins.

Other top earners include:

  • Deputy police chief Henry Dacosta, $201,639
  • Police Chief Dan Foy, $188,132
  • Fire captain Gilles Leduc, $173,578
  • Director of growth and infrastructure Pat Seguin, $172,901
  • Police Staff Sgt. Chad Lilko, $166,966

The number of Timmins and District Hospital staffers on the list has gone up.

In 2022, 173 people made more than $100,000, while there were 122 in 2021. 

The top five earners there are:

  • President and CEO Kate Fyfe, $301,547
  • Registered nurse Lorna Moreau, $209,938
  • Vice president Clinical/Chief Nursing Officer Joan Ludwig, $192,787
  • Vice president of Human Resources Mike Resetar, $182,013
  • Director Lia Fontana, $174,784

The number of people on the Sunshine List at District School Board Ontario North East has dropped to 321 in 2022 from 329 in 2021. In 2019, there were 128 people on the list. 

The top earners are:

  • Director of education Lesleigh Dye, $214,827
  • Superintendent of Business/Finance Lisa Edwards, $164,497
  • Superintendent of Schools Steven Pladzyk, $164,497
  • Superintendent of Human Resources James Rowe, $163,937
  • Elementary teacher Monica Rusnak, $154,598

At Northern College, 80 staff are on the list, up from 73 in 2020.

The top earner at the school was president and CEO Audrey Penner, who made $261,911.

The Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board (CDSSAB) is paying over $5.7 million in salaries for the 49 people on the Sunshine List.

The top earners there are:

  • CAO Brian Marks, $198,622
  • Deputy CAO Angela Delaurier, $163,833
  • Paramedic Bryan Kydd, $143,371
  • Director of Ontario Works Nancy Ferraro, $138,979
  • Director of emergency medical services Jean Carriere, $138,979
