Timmins residents received an ample dose of holiday cheer today, thanks to Northern College’s Annual Christmas Caroling Cruiser.
The cruiser, a yellow school bus, was provided by First Student Canada’s Timmins branch.
The bus was filled with over 30 Northern College students, staff and faculty, including college president Fred Gibbons.
“The Timmins community has always given us tremendous support, and we see the Christmas Caroling Cruiser as a small way of giving back to the community and showing how much we appreciate it,” says Gibbons. “We love this city and are proud to be a part of it, and how better to show that than by spreading some goodwill and cheer during the holidays?”
Over the course of the afternoon, the cruiser made stops at Timmins and District Hospital, The Walford, The Golden Manor, Extendicare and Spruce Hill Lodge.
Passengers disembarked at each stop to perform a handful of carols.
The Northern College Christmas Caroling Cruiser was organized by the Usual Suspects, a group of college employees who seek to unify and build a strong sense of camaraderie amongst the dedicated staff of Northern College across its four campus locations.
“The idea for the Christmas Caroling Cruiser came about when we asked ourselves what we felt was at the root of the holiday season,” says Nicole Gingras, Development Officer at Northern College and member of the Usual Suspects. “It’s about sharing positive experiences with the people in your community, which is exactly what we’ve done with this initiative. Today was a huge success.”
