Stranded canoeist rescued north of Mattice

HEARST - On June 17, 2019, at approximately 11:15 a.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a stranded canoeist approximately 50 kilometres north of Mattice, Ont. on the Missinaibi River.

The canoeist was located in good health by the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) with the assistance of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF).

The OPP would like to remind outdoor enthusiasts of the importance of planning and being properly equipped when enjoying outdoor activities.
