We’re so proud of the outstanding efforts made by schools across Ontario to ensure they are healthy schools. We are excited to announce that 174 schools, representing 41 of 72 school boards, have received Ophea’s Healthy Schools Certification and have been certified as Gold (86), Silver (68) and Bronze (20)!

Ophea’s Healthy Schools Certification recognizes and celebrates school communities for promoting and enhancing the health and well-being of students, school staff, and the broader community.

Participating schools across Ontario completed the 6-Step Healthy Schools Process, which aligns with the Ministry of Education’s Foundations for a Healthy School resource and the Well-Being Strategy for Education.

Glenn Sheculski, Director of Education, remarked “It is my privilege to acknowledge and recognize the Healthy Schools team at St. Patrick School, Kapuskasing for completing Ophea's Healthy Schools Certification and being designated as a Gold certified school. Their efforts to promote and enhance the health and well-being of students, school staff, and the broader community is commended.

It is heartening to learn of such accomplishments. I want to thank all students, teachers, and administration staff for their time, effort and stead-fast approach in completing the 6-Step Healthy Schools Process, supporting student well-being and engagement, and fostering community partnerships.

Your commitment to establishing a healthy, safe, inclusive, and accepting learning environment will support all students in reaching their full potential. On behalf of the Northeastern Catholic District School Board, congratulations and thank you.”

Gretchen Morgan, Principal at St. Patrick School commented “We are very excited about the work we have done here at St. Pat's for our 2 healthy school priorities of physical activity and mental health.”
