The Knights of Columbus' fundraising efforts are boosting the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation.

Council 11568 of St. Joachim's Church in South Porcupine dropped off a $22,900 donation this week.

The money will be used to help buy a new Accuvein in day surgery, and is also the final installment of a 2018 pledge of for a neo-natal ventilator.

According to the hospital foundation, being able to buy a ventilator was due to the joint forces of five Knights of Columbus councils — St. Joachim, St. Eugene the Mazenod, Ramore, Theriault, and Iroquois Falls — and the Fille d'Isabelle/Daughters of Isabelle Cercle.

The South Porcupine group raised the cash at its 2019 Bingo events a Jackpot City.

"The generosity of our community continually amazes us! The St. Joachim Knights now have a lifetime cumulative giving of $35,350. A plaque commemorates this group's achievement and will now be recognized as associate donors on our Giving is Receiving donor wall in the TDH promenade," said Barb McCormick, TADHF manager of donor relations.
