For the second year, the City of Timmins is proudly participating in SOCKS Timmins’ Sock It To Us 2018 campaign from Feb. 18-24.

The City of Timmins will be setting up bins and challenging its employees to donate new socks to the campaign. We are also inviting the public to join in on our efforts by contributing to the bins in a number of our public locations, such as: the Timmins Public Library and CM Shields Centennial Library in South Porcupine, the Tax Department on the first floor of City Hall, the Archie Dillon Sportsplex Pool, the Security office at the Victor M. Power Airport, and the Golden Manor.

Last year, through the combined efforts of our employees and the public, the City of Timmins collected 600 pairs of new socks.

In 2017, over 8,000 pairs of new socks were provided to organizations in Timmins, such as the Yo Mobile, the Timmins and South Porcupine Food Banks, the Lord’s Kitchen, the Good Samaritan Inn, Project Love, H.O.P.E. Comfort Kits and Outreach, the Women in Crisis Center, NEOFACS, First Baptist Church, and other individuals and groups. Last week, a big box of new socks went to the new Living Space.

“Let’s show everyone that we truly are the City with a Heart of Gold, and help those in need in our community,” said SOCKS Timmins Coordinator Carol Halt. “The need is real and never goes away.”
