Generally, snow depth and water content conditions for this time of year are below to slightly above (one station) normal (50 per cent to 137 per cent) through the entire Upper Mattagami Watershed.

Current forecasts show a mix of sun and cloudy periods over the coming week with daytime temperatures ranging from -7C to +2C over the next five to seven days with no major weather systems expected.

Winter drawdown of Mesomikenda has been completed and maintaining current elevation; drawdown of Mattagami Lake and Peter Long is ongoing. The dams are currently set up to continue drawdown until refilling begins in April. Wawaitin is continuing to pass inflows; drawdown can commence at any time dependent on hydrometric conditions. Inflows are currently slightly below normal.

Local area creeks, particularly Town Creek and Crawford Creek, have experienced an unusually large amount of ice buildup this winter. The enclosed portions of Town Creek and Crawford Creek are being closely watched by Authority and Municipal staff.

The Authority's Flood Forecast and Warning Manual is currently at the printers and will be distributed to watershed stakeholders within the next two weeks.

The next update will be issued on or about April 1.
