Skinny Friday is April 21 at the Dante Club

And it's the first in a series of Fridays during which the people of Timmins can unwind at the end of the week

The Porcupine Dante Club will start an entertaining Friday afternoon session featuring local musician Daniel Yergeau, better known as Skinny. First event is this Friday, April 21. Frank Giorno for TimminsToday.

The venerable Dante Club will start presenting a Friday afternoon session called @the Lounge, beginning this Friday, Apr. 21.

@theLounge will feature Daniel Yeregeau, a local musician better known as "Skinny."

The fun starts at 5 p.m. 

Everyone is welcome and there is no admission. Food and bar service is available for purchase.

The executive of the Dante Club hopes the Friday afternoon relaxer will catch on and become party of Timmins social scene.

The concept is to provide a place where people in Timmins can unwind at the end of the week.

On Tuesday Apr. 25 the Club will be hosting a General Members Dinner. The cost is $20 per member at the Club Lounge starting at 6:30 p.m. 

On May 3, a Mother and Daughter - Bring a Friend Dinner will be held at also in the Club Lounge, tickets are $20 each with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m

For movie lovers who are interested in Italian cinema a free showing of Victorio De Sica's classic film The Bicycle Thief will be shown on Wednesday, May 11 at 6 p.m.  Admission is free and free popcorn will be served to those in attendance.

Also mark on your calendars, Sunday July 30, the first Festa Italia. Cedar Street South, from the Flamingo Hotel south to First Avenue will be closed for a street party celebrating Italian cuisine, culture and music.

The event is sponsored by the Downtown Business Improvement Association.
