From a spring festival of colour to digging up minerals and a fun way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, there's a lot happening this weekend.

Geology dig
Saturday, March 17, 1 – 3 p.m.
Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre, 325 Second Ave.
For Kids Saturday at the Museum, get messy and dig through your own block of dirt to uncover a mineral treasure. Each block has two rocks for the young geologist to keep. The cost is $5 plus HST. The program is for kids ages four and up.
Green science activities
Saturday, March 17, 1 – 3 p.m.
Science Village
Dress in green and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the family and some green science activities. The cost is $2 for members and $5 for non-members.
Crazy Forts
Saturday, March 17, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Timmins Public Library
Build a reading nook to celebrate National Engineering Month.
Film and popcorn
Saturday, March 17, 2 p.m.

Stop by for the free screening of Le Petit Nicolas.

Cheer on the athletes at the first local biathlon competition.
Gwynne Dyer: The State of the World in 2018

The renowned journalist and historian is returning to town. Tickets are $10 in advance and available at the museum.
Sunday, March 18, 6 p.m.
Northern College
An official celebration for the Indian festival of Holi, known as the festival of colours, is being held for the first time in town. It’s being held by Northern College International Department, the Association of India and the Timmins and District Multicultural Centre, and will feature a meal, henna, traditional Indian dance and music. Tickets are $14 for non-vegetarian and $10 for vegetarian. For tickets, email [email protected] before March 17.
