During the February 11, 2016 meeting of the Timmins Police Services Board, Timmins Police Traffic Sergeant Tom Chypyha was honoured with an award for receiving top marks during a recent Police Traffic Officer’s course in Toronto.

Sgt. Chypyha received the highest mark (a mark of 100 percent) of all participants and was awarded a plaque from the Ontario Traffic Council.

“Sgt. Chypyha’s skills in this area are among the best in the province,” said TPS Chief John Gauthier. “We have an expert among us here and we are very fortunate to have him as our Traffic Services Sergeant.”

TPS Board Chair Mayor Steve Black echoed Chief Gauthier’s comments. “It’s definitely an honour to have him as part of the Timmins Police Service.”
