The Senator Hotel & Conference Centre in Timmins is under new ownership.
Located in downtown Timmins, the Senator was acquired by MBE Group (Mansour Brothers Business Partners) in February.
MBE Group is the umbrella name for a collection of companies providing services in a number of areas, including IT, real estate, insurance, mortgage, point-of-sale, ATM, accounting, and credit counselling.
The company is based in Toronto.
“We are delighted to welcome The Senator Hotel’s employees, customers and service providers into the MBE Family,” said Syed Mansoor Ali Naqvi, MBE’s president and CEO, in a March 6 statement.
“This acquisition further advances our vision to diversify and enhance our service offering to customers.”
The acquisition marks the second time in two years the hotel has changed hands.
In April, 2017, it was acquired by Tanveer Khan, who changed the hotel’s brand back to the Senator after it spent the previous 17 years operating under the Days Inn banner.
The hotel underwent some major renovations on a previously closed block of 47 rooms, updating them with modern décor and amenities, and bringing the total number of rooms to 147.
Each room comes standard with a coffee machine, mini fridge, microwave, iron and board, and hair blower. Wi-Fi access is complimentary.
The large banquet hall can hold up to 400 people, with a standard round table setup, while three smaller rooms are available for meetings. There is also a popular dining room on site.
