A section of trail in Porcupine will be temporarily closed this week.
Thursday, Sept. 16, access to the walking trail around Porcupine Lake will be closed at Whitney-Tisdale Pumping Station 4 just east of the Whitney Arena on Highway 101. It's to allow for work on the final phase to connect the new pumping station with existing infrastructure, according to the City of Timmins announcement.
"The trail will be closed at this location for one day to facilitate construction. Further work will be required at a later date. The City of Timmins is working closely with the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority to minimize the amount of time access to the trail is interrupted. The closure is necessary to ensure public safety in an active construction zone," reads the notice.
"The work is necessary before final commissioning of the plant."
