Recording device found in change room, man charged

HEARST – On September 12, 2015, the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was advised that a recording device had been discovered in a change room at the Claude Larose Arena located on Edward Street.

HEARST – On September 12, 2015, the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was advised that a recording device had been discovered in a change room at the Claude Larose Arena located on Edward Street.

The device was located, removed and given to police.

The OPP North East Crime Unit was called in to assist with the investigation.

As a result of the investigation police arrested and charged Daniel RANCOURT, 51, of Hearst with two counts of Voyeurism contrary to section 162(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

He was remanded into custody and attended a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on September 14, 2015.

He was then released on a recognizance and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Hearst on October 14, 2015.
