Explore the city and read a book at a upcoming weekly events.

The Timmins Public Library is offering StoryWalks in the coming weeks.

It kicks off this Thursday, July 30 at Gilies Lake from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the book Bear for Breakfast by Robert Munsch. 

Thursday, Aug. 6 it will be at Porcupine Lake from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the book Plant a Seed and See What Grows by Roland Gahler. 

The other two events will be in the downtown cores.

Chris Hadfield's The Darkest Dark will be in the Dowtown Timmins BIA windows Aug. 10 to 14. Brady Brady and the Ballpark Bark by Mary Shaw will be in downtown South Porcupine business windows from Aug. 17 to 21.

"A StoryWalk is an opportunity for children and families to experience reading a book while walking through a chosen area, such as park, trail, or neighbourhood," reads the announcement.

The four books are celebrating Canadian authors and illustrators.

According to the library, the Porcupine Health Unit was consulted. The walk will include signage promoting physical distancing.
