What are Signs of Your Water Starting to Freeze to Your Building

If you are experiencing a loss of water pressure or a change in the colour of your water, this may be a sign of your water service starting to freeze. Please leave at least one tap open and contact Public Works.

Frozen Water Lines – What to do?

If you have a frozen water line, please contact Public Works at 705-360-2646 during the week day from 7am to 4pm. After 4pm, and during weekends, you are requested to contact 705-264-1201.

Preventing Frozen Water Lines

Running one tap water continuously, no more than 1/8 of an inch (4mm), preferably from the highest part of your building, is sufficient to prevent freezing. If you are running your tap and place a measuring cup under the flow, it should take no less than 20 seconds to fill 8 ounces or 250 ml. Following this guideline will help the Water Plant to supply sufficient water supply available for emergencies, including fire protection.
