A company has been chosen to provide project management for several stages of the Golden Manor redevelopment.

Tonight, Timmins council approved having BTY Consultancy Group provide the project management services for the schematic and detailed design phases, and furniture, fixtures and equipment procurement. The fixed-fee contract is for $203,600 plus HST. The contract is until 2024.

The long-term care facility has been approved for the redevelopment of its 176 beds and has been allocated 16 new spaces. The new, 192-bed building will be built on the empty land in the northwest corner of the current location on Melrose Boulevard.

Golden Manor administrator Carol Halt said BTY had the highest technical score from the evaluation team. It also had the lowest bid.

The last time the project was at council was in September when Montgomery Sisam Architects was chosen to do the comprehensive building design for the new facility.

According to the report, Montgomery Sisam is also providing project management services for phase one of the pre-design activities. That work is expected to be done this month, "when all deliverable have been accomplished."
