The Board of Directors of the Porquis Agricultural Society is pleased to announce their official 100th Anniversary and Century Celebrations officially starts on Jan. 19, 2018.

Co-incidentally on the same day of the first meeting of the organization in 1918! Mrs. Sandra Smith, granddaughter of the founding president Arthur Balloid, will be on hand to officially unveil the new logo and banner at 8 p.m.

  • Annual General Meeting, and election of officers: 7 p.m.
  • Official 100-year anniversary kick off and new logo unveiling: 8 p.m.
  • Guest speakers: 8:15 p.m.
  • Wrap up and closing comments: 9 p.m.

“The Porquis Agricultural Society is our most historical and eldest volunteer group in our community, and it is a very special and marked day of celebration when one hits a 100," stated Iroquois Falls Mayor Michael Shea.

"On behalf of the Town of Iroquois Falls, I would like to congratulate them on their 100th Anniversary, and thank all the volunteers, over the century, for their dedication, organization and commitment to the promotion of agriculture in our community and region. This is also aligned with our current goal of ‘Supporting and Fostering Growth in the Agricultural Sector', from our strategic plan."

Century celebrations coordinator and director, Betty Dupuis, affirmed, “Porquis Ag will be celebrating this platinum achievement throughout the year, including numerous special events, and we hope the community and public will continue to enjoy and attend our many events."

Long-time member and director, Mona Liznick, claims, “This is a part of our life, volunteering and contributing to our community, and its time to welcome new and next generation volunteers, to continue the mission and involvement."
