A Timmins school was evacuated for an emergency situation for about an hour this morning.

Northeastern Catholic District School Board community relations officer Andrew Marks said students at Pope Francis Elementary School were evacuated about 10:30 a.m. and returned to the school around 11:15 a.m.

Marks wouldn't elaborate on what the emergency situation is. He said the Timmins Police were involved.

During the evacuation, all students, staff and child care partners at the school were evacuated to the nearby board office and Ecole St. Jacques Cartier.

"All students and staff are safe. The school has been re-opened and all students and staff members have returned to Pope Francis Elementary School," reads a media advisory.
