Johanne Gagnon of Crochet by JoJo will be at the Downtown Timmins Holiday Pop-Up Shop for its first and last weekend. The annual market starts Nov. 20 and runs each Saturday until Dec. 18 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season are returning to a historic downtown building.

The Downtown Timmins BIA's Holiday Pop-Up Shop starts this Saturday, Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will run every Saturday until Dec. 18 at 227 Third Ave. in the former Bucovetsky's/Tweed and Hickory building.

“It’s a bunch of local artisans and crafters and also some of our local farmers coming to sell their goods,” explained Stacey Martin, BIA executive assistant.

There are 22 vendors that will be there every week. Each week there eight tables that will have different small businesses, so there will be something new every week.

This is the biggest venue that the pop-up shop has been held in. Earlier this year, Engraved and Bloomex bought the building and plans to create a multi-retail shopping experience.

The renovations aren't starting until the new year, so Martin said the BIA reached out to the owner to have the pop-up shop there.

“It sold out in about a week and we’ve had a waiting list for about two weeks now,” she said, adding that no one is cancelling.

For COVID-19 prevention measures, the pop-up shop is a retail setting so proof of vaccination isn't needed. Masks are required, hand sanitizer is available at the entrance, and people should social distance.
