Police tell erratic Dodge to stop. It did, eventually

A Matheson man faces three charges

The Timmins Police Service has charged an area man with impaired-related charges stemming from an occurrence in the downtown area of Timmins over the weekend.

While tending to a call for service near the intersection of Cedar and Algonquin Blvd during the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov. 19, Timmins Police Service officers were approached by a 2008 Dodge pickup truck being driven in an erratic manner.

The driver was directed to stop by the officers a number of times before the driver eventually had the vehicle come to rest up against the curb of the roadway.

The driver was interviewed and based on the observations made by the officer, he was arrested and taken to Timmins Police headquarters to completed breath testing procedures.

As a result of the occurrence, a 41-year-old Matheson man has been charged with:

  • One count of impaired operation of motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of fail to provide breath sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of fail to comply with recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused is required to attend Provincial Court in Timmins on Nov. 29 to answer to the charges laid against him.
