A Timmins Police officer will answer to charges under the Police Services Act next month.

In May 2011, Constable Dave Lalonde was charged with 13 counts contrary to the Act, including discreditable conduct, deceit, and insubordination.

The charges arose from incidents which occurred between May 2011 and January 2013.

The hearing date is currently set for November 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Timmins Police Service Community Board Room before retired OPP Superintendent Morris Elbers, who has been appointed Hearings Officer in this matter. Constable Lalonde has been suspended with pay since May 17, 2011.

If found guilty, Lalonde can face demotion, suspension or possible dismissal from the service.

This made the news in 2011, here are those releases.

Allegations of misconduct on a 12 year member of the Timmins Police Service Constable are to be investigated in a hearing next month. An internal investigation has revealed Constable Dave LaLonde may have committed acts of insubordination, discreditable conduct, deceit and failing to work in accordance with orders. Chief Richard Laperriere says he started the investigation following the allegations which are supposed to have happened between January and May, 2011. Const. LaLonde has been suspended from active duty pending the hearing which has been set for August 17th. Penalties for misconduct under the Police Services Act range from admonition to dismissal. Meanwhile Mike Fortin, president of the Timmins Police Association calls LaLonde an upstanding officer and respected by his peers and community. Fortin says until the facts are heard at the hearing, the charges are just allegations and assures the public they need not worry about corruption in the Timmins Police Service.

A later release.

Facing 12 allegations of misconduct, Constable Dave Lalonde will have to wait a while longer to know the outcome of a hearing into the matter. Lalonde’s representatives adjourned the hearing until November 7th at 8:00am to address the matter. Const Lalonde is accused of insubordination, discreditable conduct, deception and failing to obey orders in incidents occurring between January and May, 2011.
