Police scoop drugs worth $18,000 in latest bust

SOUTH PORCUPINE – On July 10, 2015, at around 9:24 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) with assistance of the Iroquois Falls OPP and North East Region OPP Canine Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant on Country Lane, Stock Township. 

During the search police seized a quantity of suspected marihuana buds and several other suspected narcotics. 

The estimated street value of the seizure is approximately $18,000.

As a result of the police investigation Ronald Lesley Jason RANKIN, 19, of Black River-Matheson Township ON, was charged with:

  • Trafficking as per section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of Cannabis Marijuana as per section 4(1) of the CDSA,
  • Produce Cannabis Marijuana as per section 7(1) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of other drugs as per section 4(1) of the CDSA.

Michael Arthur Allen Giguere, 20, of Iroquois Falls ON, was charged with:

  • Possession of Cannabis Marihuana as per section 4(1) of the CDSA
  • Produce Cannabis Marihuana as per section 7(1) of the CDSA,
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order as per section 733.1(1) of the Criminal    Code of Canada, (CC)

Both men are scheduled to appear in Timmins at the Ontario Court of Justice at on September 8, 2015 to answer to the charges.
