Police respond to numerous thefts in Kirkland Lake

Remind people to lock their vehicles, homes and outbuildings

KIRKLAND LAKE - On Sept. 12, 2019, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of numerous mischiefs and thefts from motor vehicles on Wishman Avenue in the Town of Kirkland Lake. 

The police investigation lead to the arrest of Brandon Harrington, age 23, from Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Further investigation revealed that the accused was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court. As a result the accused he has been charged with the following offences:

  • Mischief - Destroys or Damages Property (two counts), contrary to section 430(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Theft Under $5,000, contrary to section 334(b) of the CC, and
  • Fail to Attend Court, contrary to section 145(2)(b) of the CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, on Oct. 31, 2019.

Crime prevention is an important part of what members of the Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment do and we want to remind the public that it is a responsibility we all share.

Remember: Don't be an easy victim. Don't fall victim to a crime of opportunity, bring in your valuables, lock your car doors and lock your house and out buildings.
