TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE
Police received a report that on October 3, 2014, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a 13-year-old female was approached by a male driver in the area of Pearl Ave and Cameron St. N. and offered a ride, stating he knew her mother.
The student refused the ride, and was picked up from school by a family member.
The male driver is described as Caucasian, in his 30’s with thick hair and facial hair.
The vehicle he was driving is described as a four-door sedan, silver in colour, with tinted windows.
Police received a second report that at approximately 7:15 a.m. on October 6, 2014, another female was followed by an unknown male and offered a ride, in the area of Rae St. and Vimy Ave., again stating he knew her mother.
The student refused the ride, at which point the male exited the vehicle and began walking toward her for a short distance.
He then returned to his vehicle and left the scene.
The driver is described as male, Caucasian, in his 30’s, approximately 6” tall, with a slim build and dark hair.
He is described as wearing a grey t-shirt with a black zip-up sweater, blue jogging pants, and work boots.
The vehicle is described as a black four-door Kia sedan.
The Timmins Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver, or drivers, of the vehicles.

Parents are reminded about the importance of speaking to children about stranger safety.
Some tips include never accepting a ride, or gifts from a stranger, being assertive if approached, and knowing ‘safe’ locations in case of emergency.
