Police raid Chapleau business, seize drugs after youths hospitalized

WAWA - On Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017 at approximately 1:20 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Detachments along with the assistance of the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the Superior East Crime Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a local Chapleau business. 

The warrant was as a result of an extensive investigation into the sale of illegal drugs in the Chapleau area which resulted in several youths being hospitalized.  Approximately 95 grams of Kush King brand synthetic cannabinoids and four vaporizer pens containing hemp oil (also known as CBD) were seized.   

As a result David Dong, (50) of Chapleau, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Adult possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking- under 3 kg, contrary to section 5 (2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was released from custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Chapleau, Ontario on Dec. 8, 2017.
