Police net three on outstanding warrants

The Timmins Police Service executed a number of arrest warrants stemming from a number of different incidents over the weekend resulting in bail hearings, most of which are slated for this morning (07 August) at Provincial Court in Timmins.

The Timmins Police Service located a person who is alleged to have failed to appear for their appearance in Provincial Court in answer to charges of Theft - Under $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Under $5000.

The accused was observed by a Timmins Police officer completing general patrol near the downtown core of Timmins. Upon confirming the existence of a warrant, Jeanne D’arc Mapachee, 55, of Timmins, was arrested and taken into custody and currently awaits a bail hearing slated for Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Provincial Court in Timmins.

Additionally, while completing general patrol of the business core of Timmins on Friday Aug. 3, a Timmins Police Service officer located a person believed to be wanted on the strength of a breach of probation warrant. Here again, upon having the warrant confirmed, Rosan Scott, 26, of Timmins was arrested and taken into custody where she currently awaits a bail hearing slated for Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Provincial Court in Timmins.

Lastly, the Timmins Police Service responded to an evening disturbance at an Elm Street North apartment building on Sunday, Aug. 5.

In the course of investigating the matter, one of the involved parties was identified and found to be the subject of an arrest warrant on weapons charges dating back to an incident resulting in criminal charges being laid.

As a result, Sherrie Gillies, 33, of Timmins, was taken into custody where she had a video bail hearing where she was released from custody but must re-attend Provincial Court in Timmins on Aug. 14 to have all outstanding criminal matters addressed.
