Police lay seven impaired charges in September

During the month of September, Timmins Police officers laid seven impaired driving charges.

On September 5, officers conducted a RIDE stop, and upon speaking to the vehicle’s driver, noted signs of impairment.

The driver of the vehicle did provide a breath sample, but refused to provide additional samples when requested.

Anthony Sabourin, 39, of Sudbury was charged with impaired driving, driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, fail/refuse to provide a breath sample, and possessing more than one driver’s license.

On September 10, at approximately 3 a.m., officers received a call regarding a motor vehicle collision in the downtown area of Timmins.

Upon attending the scene, officers located the vehicle, and located the vehicle’s driver a short distance from the scene.

Upon speaking to the driver, police noted signs of impairment and placed the driver under arrest.

Following an investigation, Steve Lamothe, 33, of Sudbury was charged with impaired driving, possession of a schedule II substance and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.

On September 14, at approximately 3:30 a.m., police affected a traffic stop on a suspected impaired driver.

Upon speaking to the driver, police noted signs of impairment.

Following an investigation, and after refusing to provide a breath sample, David Starcevic, 38, of Timmins was charged with impaired driving and fail/refuse to provide a breath sample.

On September 20, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers observed a vehicle being driven erratically.

Upon affecting a traffic stop and speaking to the driver of the vehicle, officers noted signs of impairment.

The driver was transported to the Timmins Police Service, however refused to provide a breath sample.

Sylvina Rickard, 33, of Sudbury was charged with impaired driving and fail/refuse to provide a breath sample.

On September 27, at approximately 6 p.m., police received a report from a citizen about a possible impaired driver.

Police located the vehicle, and upon speaking to the driver, noted signs of impairment.

Following a roadside screening test, the driver was transported to the Timmins Police Service where he was administered a breath test. Anthony Vagnini, 56, of Timmins was charged with impaired driving, driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, and fail to comply with a probation order.

On September 28, at approximately 2:30 a.m., police received information from a resident regarding a possible impaired driver.

Police located the vehicle and spoke to the driver, noting signs of impairment.

Following an investigation, Megan Kingsbury, 20, of Timmins was charged with impaired driving, driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, and novice driver – blood alcohol content above zero.

On September 29, at approximately 8 p.m., police received a report from a resident regarding a possible impaired driver.

Police located the vehicle a short time later and noted signs of impairment in the driver.

Following an investigation, Michel Routhier, 47, of Kapuskasing, was charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

The Timmins Police Service would like to remind residents about the importance of reporting potentially impaired drivers.

An impaired driver is considered an emergency, and residents are encouraged to call 9-1-1 should they suspect a driver may be impaired.
