Police arrest three in relation to thefts

Based on an investigation into a number of thefts from the fragrance counter at a local pharmacy where upwards of $600 in products were taken, the Timmins Police Service was able to identify and locate the persons allegedly responsible

The Timmins Police Service has charged a three local persons stemming from a series of thefts from a local pharmacy last week. Based on an investigation into a number of articulated thefts from the fragrance counter at a local pharmacy where upwards of $600 in products were taken, the Timmins Police Service was able to identify and locate the persons allegedly responsible for the thefts.

As a result of the incidents on Jan. 9 and again on Jan. 10, Chaim Katz, 49, of Timmins has been charged with 2 counts of:

  • Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Additionally, Brandon Vignola, 25, of Timmins has been charged with 2 counts of

  • Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply With probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Additionally, Carina Joanette, 22, of Timmins has been charged with 2 counts of

  • Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused persons were arrested yesterday and remain in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court to answer to the charges laid against them.
